Do you have new solo or duo material you’re itching to present? Join us for Donau115’s regular open stage series, Two-Song Tuesdays.
Your set may include TWO SONGS or last TEN MINUTES.
“How do I get booked?”
// Just show up
// There is no pre-booking
// Sign up opens at 19:00 (first come, first booked)
// The first performer will begin at 20:30
// No soundcheck – so be ready. Slip on, blow minds, slip off.
“What can I play?”
This is entirely up to you. Out of respect for our neighbours:
– you may NOT use loud percussion and loud bass-heavy signals into the PA.
– you are welcome to use our backline, which includes:
— piano
— generic vocal microphones
— a small terrible PA, accepting guitar/XLR cables (new one coming soon!)

“But what about Covid-19”
Yep, we know. No more than 25 people may be in our stage area at any time. Those wishing to enter after that capacity has been reached can enjoy a drink or a taco in the back room or outside on our sidewalk seating until more spaces become available.

“Anything else?”
Donau115 is a very fun but weird musician’s musician kind of bar, come expecting oddballs.

Mi, 30. Juni
Mark Pringle’s BRIGHT DARK

Mark Pringle – Piano/synth
Felix Henkelhausen – Double Bass
Philip Dornbusch – Drums

This constellation brings together three empathetic musical minds to explore compositions by Mark Pringle. The trio navigate structures of varying density, diving into improvisations characterised by at times delicate expressivity, othertimes bold intensity, always reactive, spontaneous and emotive. Mark’s compositions channel influences from the fringes of contemporary classical and electronic music, as well as from his peers on the Berlin improvised music and jazz scenes. The totality amounts to a dynamic soundworld, urgent and colourful, brought to life by three creative voices on the Berlin music scene.

Do, 1. Juli

„This new Band is going to present their own music, combining open forms and the intimacy of the Trio setting with strong melodies and sounds. Free improvisations, through-composed pieces and contrafacts blend together and form a collective sound that defies stylistic boundaries“

Doug Weiss Berlin Band
For over 30 years I have made a career of elevating the performances of artists such as Kevin Hays, Peter Bernstein, Mike Moreno, Lizz Wright, Brian Blade, Eddie Henderson, Clifford Jordan and Al Foster.
I am now ready to take this responsibility as band leader. Béla Meinberg has harmonic and melodic taste and sensitivity. Jordan Dinsdale is a subtle and swinging drummer who has studied the lineage of the rhythmic greats. Ori Jacobson brings beautiful sound, presence and storytelling to the table. I am so pleased to have met each of these remarkable young musicians – We will play interpretations of music that we all love, including some of my own compositions. In the words of my mentor Al Foster, we strive to bring the audience “Love, Peace, and Jazz”

Doug Weiss – Bass
Jordan Dinsdale – Drums
Ori Jacobson – Saxophone
Béla Meinberg – Piano
