Two-Song Tuesday // OPEN MIC //

///// TWO-SONG TUESDAY /////
[sign up 19:00 // start 20:00]

[CORONA SAFETY MEASURE: please bring your own microphone if you have one.]
Calling all songwriters!
Calling all composers and instrumentalists and synth wizards!
Calling all poets and writers and storytellers!
Do you have new solo or duo material you’re itching to present? Join us for Donau115’s regular open stage series, Two-Song Tuesdays.
Your set may include TWO SONGS or last TEN MINUTES.
“How do I get booked?”
// Just show up
// There is no pre-booking
// Sign up opens at 19:00 (first come, first booked)
// The first performer will begin at 20:30
// No soundcheck – so be ready. Slip on, blow minds, slip off.
“What can I play?”
This is entirely up to you. Out of respect for our neighbours:
– you may NOT use loud percussion and loud bass-heavy signals into the PA.
– you are welcome to use our backline, which includes:
— piano
— generic vocal microphones
— a small terrible PA, accepting guitar/XLR cables (new one coming soon!)

“But what about Covid-19”
Yep, we know. No more than 25 people may be in our stage area at any time. Those wishing to enter after that capacity has been reached can enjoy a drink or a taco in the back room or outside on our sidewalk seating until more spaces become available.

“Anything else?”
Donau115 is a very fun but weird musician’s musician kind of bar, come expecting oddballs.

The Nation Mourns

The Nation Mourns is the musical brain child of Irish songwriter Neil O’Shea. Growing up with a wide range of blues and rock influence, it was the haunting timbre of artists such as Tom Waits, Nick Drake, and Jackson C Frank that drew him to songwriting. This has lead him to lyrics of landscapes and leaving for home; while subtle, melancholic melodies draw you ever further into the music.
“He snakes his lyrical phrasing around the beat expertly expressing the weight of every word and the music carries that burden with a sense of kindness and compassion.”

Nathan Ott Trio

Bela Meinberg – (p)
Christian Müller – (b)
Nathan Ott – (dr)

Westergaard, Sebastian Gille, Rainer Böhm, Niels Klein, Vladislav
Sendecki oder Claus Stötter.

For their concert at Donau 115, the Carl Morgan Quartet will present a program of original compositions and selected standards. The compositions aim to explore the relationship between guitar and piano and serve as a foundation for improvisation.
Carl Morgan is a guitarist originally from Australia living in Berlin since 2018. He has performed and/or recorded with many artists including Chris Potter, Maria Schneider, Becca Stevens andChris Cheek. His quartet on the night will feature pianist Can Olgun (originally from Berlin now living in NY), bassist Matthias Pichler and drummer Mathias Ruppnig.

So, 1. August
Eldar Tsalikov & Greg Cohen

Eldar Tsalikov and Greg Cohen are back at it again.
The duo achieved worldwide fame after their first CD evaporated after being pressed.
The music was so hot, the plastic melted!
These two titans of the music formally known as “jazz” will serenade you with compositions
written by famous melodists of the 20th century.
I find no logical reason for missing this show, other than an extended holiday in Peoria, Illinois.
Please come and join in the fun.
Bass and saxophone hasn’t sounded this good since the wig party was in office.
