Two Song Tuesday

///// TWO-SONG TUESDAY /////
[sign up 19:00 // start 20:00]

Calling all songwriters!
Calling all composers and instrumentalists and synth wizards!
Calling all poets and writers and storytellers!

Do you have new solo or duo material to present? Join us for Donau115’s regular open stage series, Two-Song Tuesday.
Your set may include TWO SONGS or last TEN MINUTES, WHICHEVER IS SHORTER (e.g. two seven-minute songs = NO, three two-minute songs = NO).

“How do I get booked?”
– The bar staff tell you how to sign up, starting at 7pm.
– The first performer will begin at 20:00
– NO SOUNDCHECKS. Be ready. Slip on, blow minds, slip off. Setup is 90 seconds. Sets are no longer than 10 minutes. THERE IS A STOPWATCH TO ENSURE THIS. If your set goes beyond 10 minutes, the stopwatch goes off in the middle of your song. (The alarm sound is in the key of C#, FYI.)
– The host will call you to the stage in a random order. You may not reserve a specific time slot.
– We let as many people play as possible. There is usually time for 12 performers. Some weeks more, some weeks less.

“What can I play?”
– This is entirely up to you, but DO NOT PLAY THE SAME SONG OVER AND OVER EVERY WEEK. THIS IS BORING. TRY NEW THINGS.
– Out of respect for our neighbours:
— you may NOT use loud percussion and loud bass-heavy signals into the PA.
— you are welcome to use our backline, which includes a piano, two generic vocal microphones, a guitar cable directly into our PA, and a small amplifier.
— DON’T COUNT ON US HAVING ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE FEW THINGS LISTED ABOVE. COME PREPARED.

Just Another Foundry + Jonatan Uranes

Florian Herzog – double bass
Anthony Greminger – drums
Jonatan Uranes – electronics, pedals

After two released studio albums, various awards, over a hundred played concerts and tours worldwide, the progressive jazz band Just Another Foundry from Cologne is taking their work to the next level.

Their upcoming album “”Compendium of Unease”” (release date 24.03.) is a synergy of mature acoustic trio sound and spectrum-expanding live electronic processing in an experimental and headstrong way. In cooperation with the musicians Marc Alberto (indie pop, sound art) from Amsterdam and Jonatan Uranes (noise, DIY artist) from Copenhagen, the band will be processed and alienated live in terms of colour, sound and space.

So, 12. März
The Ansan

Siamak Mir Sheibani Moghaddam – setar, voice
Doron Furman – oud
Vijay Kannan – bansuri
Matan Goldstien – percussion
Hans Bilger – double bass

The Ansan is an ensemble connected through sound, language, culture, and deep friendship. The group is led by Siamak Mir Sheibani Moghaddam, an Iranian singer and instrumentalist who weaves Persian classical poems by Rumi, Hafez, and others into middle eastern-inflected acoustic music that keens, meditates, and erupts with joy.

Moghaddam is joined by a globe-spanning group of improvisers, each expert in a different musical tradition. Israeli oudist Doron Furman is well versed in the melodic lyricism of Arabic maqams. Percussionist Matan Goldstien, also from Israel, brings a conservatory-trained ear for European classical percussion and a rich understanding of his homeland’s oblong grooves.

Dr. Vijay Kannan studied Hindustani singing in his native India before picking up the bansuri flutes that float and dart through Ansan’s compositions. And contrabassist Hans Bilger brings years of experience with the jazz and folk traditions of America.
