Two-Song Tuesday // OPEN MIC //

///////////////////////////// TWO-SONG TUESDAY ////////////////////////////////
[sign up 19:00 // start 20:00]
–> Beschreibung in Deutsch weiter unten

Calling all songwriters!
Calling all composers and instrumentalists and synth wizards!
Calling all poets and writers and storytellers!

Do you have new solo or duo material you’re itching to present?
Join us for Donau115’s regular open stage series, Two-Song Tuesdays.

Your set may include TWO SONGS or last TEN MINUTES.

“How do I get booked?”
Just show up // There is no pre-booking // Sign up opens at 19:00 (first come, first booked) // The first performer will begin at 20:00 // No soundcheck – so be ready. Slip on, blow minds, slip off.

“What can I play?”
This is entirely up to you. Out of respect for our neighbours:
– you may NOT use loud percussion and loud bass-heavy signals into the PA.
– you are welcome to use our backline, which includes:
— piano
— generic vocal microphones
— a small terrible PA, accepting guitar/XLR cables (new one coming soon!)

“But what about Covid-19”
Yep, we know. 🙁 No more than 25 people may be in our stage area at any time. Those wishing to enter after that capacity has been reached can enjoy a drink or a taco in the back room or outside on our sidewalk seating until more spaces become available.

“Anything else?”
Donau115 is a very fun but weird musician’s musician kind of bar, come expecting oddballs.

Mi, 12. August
Practically Married #26 w/Max Andrzejewski

Declan Forde – Piano
James Banner – Bass

special guest:
Max Andrzejewski – Drums

We are back after a 4 month pause from our series, presenting original music and improvisation with long term collaborator Max Andrzejewski – there’ll be seats in the house and we’re streaming as part of Jazzwoche Berlin – more info to follow!

CORONA INFORMATION – Only approximately 25 people at a time may sit in our bar / stage area to enjoy the music. (The exact number is subject to change as requirements become more strict or more lax over time. Our staff will keep you informed of the most up-to-date requirements, z.b. contact tracing, etc., as conditions change.)

At present, we do not have a reservation system, so if you want a seat, come early. If you show up and there’s no place in the bar left, don’t leave! Read below, and come and enjoy a drink at our expanded sidewalk table seating.

To allow more people to hear the music (and pay the musicians!), we are temporarily switching to a “two-shows-per-night” system. This means that if you were one of the 25 who watched the first set in the bar, we invite you to join us for a drink in our sidewalk seating outside or in the cozy back room for a drink. This will free up space during the second set for people who were outside waiting. Even in a pandemic, there’s plenty of music to go around!

Tobias Haug Quartett

Tobias Haug – as
Felix Langemann – p
Luca Müller – b
Felix Ambach – d

This group began like many of the fine things in life – by complete accident. Separate chance meetings (one on a bus, and one in a bar) brought us together. We have been close friends and played music together since the summer of 2015 and have no intention of stopping. There was never a ‘plan’ to how we should play together, or what material. The nature of the music that we play has progressed as intuitively as it began.

By writing this I do not mean to convey a sense of aimlessness to the group; merely to explain that we have never try to force the music in one particular direction. Everything is open to interpretation, and no two nights are the same.

Discovering our mutual love of Duke Ellington’s music – as well as of other great Jazz composers such as Thomas ‘Fats’ Waller, Thelonious Monk and Herbie Nichols – has helped to shape the sound of the group. Add to that some Free Jazz sensibilities and you get a trio with a distinct and personal sound…we hope.

Johnny Kulo at Donau115 Sunday Brunch

Mexican brunch ab 12 Uhr
Musik ab 14 Uhr

Inspired by artists such as BJ The Chicago Kid, Mac Ayres and Daniel Caesar, Johnny Kulo carves his own warm and unique sound as an artist, producer & multi-instrumentalist. With his laid back, soulful grooves, smooth RnB-vibes and a hint of pop with his catchy melodies: Johnny Kulo merges everything in a way that simply makes sense. He finds his roots in music from growing up in church in India which adds an undeniable character to his music.

Our very tasty, musico-nutritious collaboration with Taco Kween will continue as usual on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

We will of course continue to monitor and closely follow all guidance from the Ordnungsamt and the Berlin Senate to protect us all from Covid-19. We’ll still need to wait awhile before cramming people inside a small space. This means that only approximately 25 people at a time may sit in our bar / stage area to enjoy the music.

We are doing our best to make shows at tiny Donau115 as great as they can be in a very strict situation. We can’t promise we’ll get it perfect on the first try, so please be patient with us. We are also very open to your suggestions. If you have any good ideas after your first post-Covid visit that you think might make things run better, by all means reach out to us: info@donau115.de.

– Liebe Gäste, liebe Musicweirdos, liebe Jazz Nerds of BerlinWE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU.

With all the hope in the world for a better back half of 2020, we remain,

Ihre Donau115
