Do you have new solo or duo material you’re itching to present? Join us for Donau115’s regular open stage series, Two-Song Tuesdays.
Your set may include TWO SONGS or last TEN MINUTES.
“How do I get booked?”
// Just show up
// There is no pre-booking
// Sign up opens at 19:00 (first come, first booked)
// The first performer will begin at 20:30
// No soundcheck – so be ready. Slip on, blow minds, slip off.
“What can I play?”
This is entirely up to you. Out of respect for our neighbours:
– you may NOT use loud percussion and loud bass-heavy signals into the PA.
– you are welcome to use our backline, which includes:
— generic vocal microphones
— a small terrible PA, accepting guitar/XLR cables (new one coming soon!)
“But what about Covid-19”
Yep, we know. No more than 25 people may be in our stage area at any time. Those wishing to enter after that capacity has been reached can enjoy a drink or a taco in the back room or outside on our sidewalk seating until more spaces become available.
Donau115 is a very fun but weird musician’s musician kind of bar, come expecting oddballs.

‘…someone who deserves to be on the biggest stages bringing smiles to the masses.’ -We Close Tonight
Described as an artist with a thorough understanding of her art, Welsh-born and Devonshire-grown Sophie Sutton draws inspiration from various artists and genres, from the jazz-influenced Lianne La Havas to the folky elegance of Lucy Rose. Vulfpeck’s funky and soulful Theo Katzman has also played a huge role in Sutton’s approach to songwriting and performing and, in April 2018, after a writing collaboration together, Sutton found herself on one of the larger stages in Berlin opening his sold-out show in Frannz Club.
Alongside intuitively creative melodies, Berlin- based artist Sophie Sutton is a skilled vocalist who accompanies herself with a sophisticated jazz-pop guitar style. Her lyrics are hard-hitting yet graceful, with personality and vulnerability felt throughout. In Summer 2018, she collaborated with Danish audio company, Libratone, who invited 10 international artists into the renowned studios of Funkhaus in Berlin. Sutton’s song ‘So Much So Little’ was recorded in this live-session and released in January 2019.
Back home in the UK, Sutton has been described as ‘Devon’s finest female singer-songwriter’ by James Santer at BBC Introducing and, since moving to the German capital in early 2017, has attracted significant attention from both locals and visitors alike.

Asger Nissen – Alto Saxophone, comp.
Valentin Gerhardus – Piano
Thorbjørn Stefansson – Bass
Marius Wankel – Drums
Nissen Mosh plays fresh original music of Danish Saxophonist Asger Nissen. Since arriving in Berlin in late 2017, Asger Nissen has established a solid name for himself around the German Jazz scenes. The music of Nissen Mosh reflects some of Asger Nissen’s favorite impulses from old, modern and contemporary music in a fresh and relevant as well as curious and inspired expression.
He is joined by some of his closest and favorite musicians; Valentin Gerhardus, Thorbjørn Stefansson & Marius Wankel. Together they make vigorous music filled with harmonic and melodic spontaneity and playfulness supported by a solid rhythmical foundation of tight grids, vivid grooves, liquid beats and raw power. All of this with a recurring inspiration from songwriting genres.
Guitarist Tal Arditi and Drummer Nathan Ott met through the Berlin music scene and quickly connected to explore the possibilities of the drums/guitar duo setting.
Improvising structure as a conceptual main element while abandoning categories of genre, the Duo’s music is a highly intensive live experience – naturally flowing, dynamic and dramatic.
Loxodon_prism is an impromptu exploration of a big spectrum from adventurous cinematic soundscapes to grounded rhythmic communication.
Join an unpredictable journey, where the only rule is playing the moment and being prepared for the unexpected.
The Johannes Bigge Trio explores the borderland between contemporary jazz, alternative pop and free improvisation. Their music is full of dynamics, emotion and surprising contrasts and plays skillfully with paradoxes. The compositions are equally complex and simple, emotional and sincere, of clear structure and full of encrypted images. The band so far released two albums on NWOG-Records and played numerous national and international clubs and festivals.
