Mi, 27. Oktober
Max von der Goltz & ronja

Max and ronja present an evening of calm, slowly evolving music, delving into each of their inner worlds. They create a space of stories and stillness by moving between songs and ambient soundscapes. Both ronja and Max will share music of their latest releases, as well as new ideas.

ronja – voice, guitar, electronics, flute

“something about us” by ronja
is about a state of confusion and anticipation. It believes that anticipation and imagination are the purest and most reliable forms of pleasure. It’s about wild, confused words and longings that lead into stillness. It hopes that the things that never happen to us won’t fade.
With these two tracks, ronja defines her songwriting: candid, multi-dimensional, soft but loud, and full of heart. Her music has become an introspective world unto itself. Her delivery is light, insistent–the tone you would use to convey passing thoughts to your dearest person in the room.
Self-composed, self-recorded, with additional production from Luka Aron these songs are starkly drawn and colorfully embellished, created in service of each individual story.
„Something about us“ is available on all digital platforms and check Bandcamp for a limited edition of handprinted shirts.

max von der goltz – laptop, synthesizer, electronics

“Feels Like I’ve Been Here Before“ marks Max von der Goltz’s first release as an ambient composer and producer.
Utilizing analogue synthesis, field recordings, noise and percussion, a handful of pieces were selected for the first release under his own name.
The record is a very personal statement, full of vulnerability. It’s an attempt to express different states of mind, emphasizing those of struggle, self-doubt and fear, while simultaneously trying to find a way out of these emotions by offering a sonic environment for inner healing.
“Feels Like I’ve Been Here Before“ is available both digitally and on limited edition cassette.

Do, 28. Oktober
Johannes Metzger Quartett

Marc Doffey – Tenor Sax
Alexander Rueß – Guitar
Christian Müller – Bass
Johannes Metzger – Drums, Composition

Fr, 29. Oktober
ONA vol. 15: Bogdanovic/Haberl/Santner/Pringle

ONA vol.15 featuring:

Andi Haberl – drums
Paul Santner – guitar/bass
Mark Pringle – piano
Mirna Bogdanovic – voice
& special guest Matilda Abraham

Join us for a night of beautiful songs!
ONA is a Slavic word which translates as SHE. ONA is Mirna Bogdanovic from Slovenia and Olga Amelchenko from Russia, two Berlin-based musicians who met at the Jazz Institut and have been friends ever since. Both active in the Berlin jazz scene, a mutual inspiration led to the idea of sharing a monthly series at their favourite club in Berlin, Donau115. Every month one of them will perform with some of their favourite musicians, either with existing bands or brand new projects – and you never know, they might even play together sometimes.

Sa, 30. Oktober

Kristinn Smári Kristinsson: guitar
Fabian Willmann: tenor saxophone
Sebastian von Keler: tenor saxophone
Valentin Link: bass
Michael Heidepriem: drums

Monoglot’s music thrives on repetitive patterns layered over a pulsating rock grove, pop mock-up and improv. It merges these elements quite accessibly and draws out melodies to shine through the fabric every now and then.
The Basel-, Berlin- and Reykjavik-based quintet expands genre boundaries but is perhaps best described as an avant-rock and creative-minimal-jazz act. It consists of Fabian Willmann and Sebastian Von Keler on tenor saxophones, Kristinn Kristinsson on guitar, Valentin Link on bass and Michael Heidepriem on drums.
Monoglot played over 100 live shows and released three studio albums since 2014. The latest, “Wrong Turns And Dead Ends” (2017), was named „A post-jazz/prog masterpiece“ by The Math Rock Times and „daring, free-spirited and fresh“ by German Jazz Thing magazine. “Make”(2020) was drescribed was as “endlessly rewarding“ (Artnoir) and „complex, but excitingly interesting and always unexpected“ (Jazzquad).
In 2021 the band is exploring all kinds of vibrations, beats and repetitive patterns under the name “Resonance”. This overarching topic influences all aspects of the musical work: rhythm, harmony, melody, timbre and intonation and will be recorded on the fourth album of the band.

„Make“ (2020) wurde als „endlessly rewarding“ (Artnoir) und „complex, but excitingly interesting and always unexpected“ (Jazzquad) beschrieben.

Plague Fun: Corona Rules

Case numbers are low, but the bug’s still around so we will be taking many measures to make sure we’re all doing our part to end the pandemic once and for all.

Since September 18th we implement the so called 2G-rule at Donau115. This means only people with full vaccination or recovered people can come inside (2G = geimpft/genesen = vaccinated/recovered).

1: OUTSIDE: contact tracing – To join us outside, you must provide contact tracing information. We will keep this information safe for the required amount of time and destroy it with fire once that time has ellapsed.

2: INSIDE: vaccinated or recovered (a test is not enough) – To join us inside, you must provide contact tracing information as above. Additionally, you must provide proof of full vaccination or recovery, without exception. You cannot get in with a test (neither “Schnelltest” nor PCR-Test). Once you’re inside you don’t have to wear a mask anymore or keep minimum distance. Standing at the bar is also allowed again.

3: BE PATIENT AND FLEXIBLE- These rules are subject to change. We follow the directions of the Berlin Senate and when they provide new guidelines we will follow those. Always check the FB event or the website prior to coming to the concert to make sure you’re prepared for any government limitations that may have been imposed since last time you checked.
